Four Things to Do When You Feel Constantly Behind
When you’re constantly busy and going at full speed, it’s easy to feel as if you’re running to catch up. By making some small changes, you might find that you feel a little more in charge of everything that comes your way.
Think about Tomorrow the Night Before
One of the best productivity tips you can try out is to get ready for the next day the night before. That’s important because you’re able to look at what’s coming up the next day with a little bit of distance. Anything you’re likely to forget or to need you should lay out the night before. Think about what you need to take with you the next day and put it with your keys. When the next morning comes along, you’ll feel more prepared.
Get Ready for the Day before the Day Hits You
The next day, even if you’re at home all day, make sure that one of the first things you do is to get ready for the day. If that means for you that you take a shower and get dressed, then make sure you do just that. The earlier that you do that before the day really kicks in, the better. When the rest of the world starts demanding things from you, you’re going to feel ready to hit the ground running.
Develop Strong Routines
When you’ve got solid routines in place, that makes life easier in general as a caregiver. You may not realize it, but you already have routines. Some of them may not serve you as well as you would like, though. Take the time to evaluate what works and what doesn’t. Then you can start to modify your routines in ways that support you a lot better.
Build a Strong Bedtime Routine, in Particular
If you’re going to focus on one routine to revamp, you might want to start with your bedtime routine. For the same reasons that you want to make sure you prep for the next day the night before, your bedtime routine is going to help you to set a solid foundation for a good night’s sleep and a much less stressful morning when it’s time to get up and face the day.
There’s a lot that is more in your control than you think as a caregiver, especially when it comes to keeping yourself feeling like you have a handle on things.
